BUSP's mission is to build on the unique strengths, resources, and assets of the religious institutions, congregations, and faith based organizations to help create and sustain thriving neighborhoods by focusing on community development, home ownership initiatives, economic development, rental housing for low- income families, special needs housing for the elderly, and comprehensive human services.

BUSP is Pennsylvania 501 ©3 non-profit Corporation with a mission to assist low-moderate income persons acquire quality affordable housing. The organization represents an innovative approach to providing community development projects through the facilitation of faith based initiatives. The Board of Directors is comprised of Bishops, clergy and lay Christian leaders that represent several different denominations, with each committed to rebuilding communities through collaborative efforts.
Leading clergy from the Greater Pittsburgh Area were convened to discuss ways to address the growing need for affordable quality housing. The Board was formed in 2000, was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2001, and received status in 501 © 3 status in 2002.
